Our company history
Packaging, wrapping, but mostly enterprise
Packaging, wrapping, but mostly enterprise.
In 1919, JC Paardekooper opens a book and paper shop in Rotterdam. And with some success. After four generations and a string of acquisitions, the family business has become a world player in the packaging market. Much has changed in a hundred years, but not our attitude. Personal care and attention, full engagement with every packaging query and good ‘old-fashioned’ hard work. Just like Paardekooper senior used to do it. It's what made us big today.
Through a variety of packaging company acquisitions under Jan Paardekooper, the third generation, Paardekooper has seen significant growth. Paardekooper has welcomed the likes of Depa (2008), Halma Packaging (2011), Van der Windt Verpakking (2013), Broekhof Verpakkingen (2018) and recently Dillewijn Zwapak (2021) into the family.
These days we deliver to some 75 countries and generate sales in the region of 400 million euro. We have a good 750 employees in Europe. But we also have colleagues in Colombia, the USA (Miami), China and Vietnam. In 2019 we were awarded the Royal designation to mark our centenary. Recognition for our hard work, of which we are immensely proud.
