Our vision on sustainability
Our vision on sustainability
A positive impact with RESPECT
We're keen to be a part of the solution to a worldwide problem. With our knowledge and experience we can make a difference in the world of packaging. For that reason, it is our ambition to lead the European field in sustainable packaging. This will enable us to develop and offer sustainable alternatives, and so kick-start a positive movement. We, as a family business, see the need to work towards a better world – for the generations to come.
Our definition of sustainability
For us, sustainability means: people, environment and economy in balance. So we don't exhaust the Earth's resources, and we keep it healthy for future generations.
We have set ourselves two main goals:
1. We will reduce our environmental impact by:
- Making our products more sustainable
- Developing circular systems
- Reducing our operational footprint
2. We will work towards a fair and sustainable supply chain by:
- Actively pursuing fair and decent working conditions across our chain
- Supporting local initiatives
RESPECT: a sustainability programme
To shape our vision we have developed the RESPECT sustainability programme. RESPECT for each other and the world. But each letter carries special meaning for us and represents a building block in our sustainability policy.
We are challenging ourselves to look differently at our existing products, packaging and business models. We are creating awareness and working towards solutions from the sustainability and/or circular perspective. We are basing our production innovations on reduce-reuse-recycle, and we are developing smart, circular systems.
We are reducing our environmental impact by making our assortment demonstrably more sustainable and developing smart, circular packaging, packaging systems and services. In tandem with this, we are working towards a transparent organisation footprint.
We are becoming demonstrably more transparent by basing our internal decision making and external recommendations for clients on science-based data.
We are contributing to sustainable economic growth by actively pursuing fair and decent internal and external working conditions, across the chain.
We are achieving world-authority status in packaging recommendations by increasing our internal and external know-how and always giving our clients the right advice.
We are committed to sustainable production and consumption, by working with our partners to make our assortment demonstrably more sustainable and developing circular systems. We and our stakeholders are kick-starting a positive movement.
We aim to achieve our goals by implementing our sustainability policy, internally and externally. We avoid greenwashing, by communicating with transparency.
On the strength of these seven building blocks we will become a part of the solution to a worldwide issue. It is no easy challenge. And we are a long way from where we want to be. But where there's a will there's a way. We’ll make mistakes, but we’ll learn along the way. Step by step we and our people, clients and partners are pursuing the ambition to awaken the world to ever more sustainable packaging. Are you with us?
